Pacita Abad had a special knack for using a unique composition of both traditional and found objects in her paintings, prints and even her clothes. During her incessant travels around the world, Pacita artistic eye was fortunate to find incredible richness and beauty wherever she went, from exquisite blue tile work in Iran, colorful embroidery in Afghanistan and Guatemala, exotic feathers in Papua New Guinea, tribal markings in Africa, silver jewelry in Yemen, and so much more in the countries in which she traveled and worked. Pacita was constantly captivated by the vibrancy, brilliance and intensity of the colors, the people and the objects that she saw, and was even more impressed that most of the clothing and accessories worn, were made from common everyday items found locally.
