In 1982 Pacita left Boston, and after a twelve-year absence, moved back to Manila to live in the Philippines for the next four years. She was excited to return home and have a reunion with her family and friends.
Initially, Pacita painted socio-political portraits of people and city scenes around Manila. However, her focus sharpened in August 1983 when Ninoy Aquino was gunned down by Marcos soldiers on the airport tarmac.
