'Fishing' was Pacita's first painting done while she was studying at the Concoran School of Art in Washington, DC. Pacita was mortified when the professor brought her painting up to the front of the class, as she was embarrased by her "stick figures". The professor told the class that obviously he could teach Pacita a lot about perspective and figurative drawing, but that personally he would die to be able to have her colors. Right from the beginning, color was the strength of Pacita's paintings and it continued to be throughout her artistic career.
